Trang Tien
Trang Tien Street is located in Trang Tien Ward of Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The street stretches approximately 710 meters in length, extending from Tran Quang Khai Dyke Road to the end of Dinh Tien Hoang Street, in close proximity to Hoan Kiem Lake, and runs alongside the historic August Revolution Square.
Historically, Trang Tien was known as a center for minting coins and served as the treasury of the Nguyen Dynasty. During the French colonial era, this street became a significant site, witnessing numerous milestones in modern Vietnamese revolutionary history. Notably, the square in front of the Hanoi Municipal Opera House has hosted many important events linked to the August Revolution of 1945.
Following Vietnam's liberation, the street was officially named Trang Tien. Since that time, it has evolved into a vibrant central thoroughfare filled with various shops, boutiques, and shopping centers, including the Nhan Dan News Printhouse, the Central Publishing House, and a renowned foreign language book center.
Today, one prominent feature along Trang Tien Street is the French Cultural Centre, known as L’espace, which serves as a hub for cultural exchange and language learning. This venue hosts numerous contemporary art exhibitions and events, contributing to the dynamic cultural landscape of the area. Over the years, through periods of construction and development, Trang Tien has transformed into a bustling commercial street at the heart of Hanoi.
Additionally, a point of pride for the locals is the famous Kem Trang Tien (Trang Tien ice cream), known for its irresistibly delicious flavors, making it a must-try treat for both visitors and residents alike.
