Phung Hung
Phung Hung Street is 1,244 meters long and stretches from Phan Dinh Phung Street to Hang Bong Street, located in the three wards of Hang Ma, Cua Dong, and Hang Bong in the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi.
Historically, this street served as a trench alongside the eastern wall of the Thang Long Citadel during the Nguyen Dynasty. It was known as Henri d'Orleans Boulevard during the French colonial period. Following the end of colonial rule in 1945, local authorities renamed it Phung Hung Street. The street runs parallel to a railway viaduct, and towards its end, you can find several old French-style houses that lean against the remnants of the old trench.
The classic architecture along the street remains largely intact, featuring tile roofs adorned with green moss, prominent square chimneys, and small attic doorways resembling dovecotes. As a street situated within a vibrant market area, it attracts many vendors who keenly tap into the locale's strong consumer demand, establishing their businesses here.
In the middle section of Phung Hung Street, you can find shops that offer a variety of plastic items, such as glasses, cups, clothes hangers, brooms, and buckets. These products may be locally manufactured or imported from countries like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea. At the eastern end of the street, there are numerous stores selling a wide range of household electrical appliances.
As night falls, the corner of Phung Hung Street transforms into a vibrant scene, shimmering under the glow of lights. The culinary offerings here are diverse, featuring specialties like beef noodles and crab noodles, alongside numerous other delicious options. Notably, Phung Hung Street has become recognized as a "paradise for hot pot" in the evenings, attracting food enthusiasts looking for a delightful dining experience.
