According to Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Hmong Ethnic Culture Festival will be held at the same time with Buckwheat Flower Festival in October 2016. These festivals will be held with a series of cultural activities in Dong Van District and Meo Vac District, Ha Giang Province.
The second Hmong Ethnic Culture Festival will take place on the subject of “Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of H’Mong Ethnic Group in the renovation, integration, and development of Vietnam.” The festival is expected to be held prior to October 15th with the participation of Hmong community in 17 provinces including Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Lam Dong.
The main events and activities in the Ethnic Culture Festival 2016 include: Opening Ceremony, Half Marathon Running Contest, Sculpture Camp on Dong Van Stone Plateau Global Geoparks, H’Mong Panpipe Festival, Demonstration of H’Mong Traditional Costume, H’Mong Folk Singing Competition, H’Mong Culinary Competition, Rituals and Cultural Activities of H’Mong Community, Exhibition of H’Mong Typical Products, and Closing Ceremony.
October is also the time that buckwheat flowers in Ha Giang are in full bloom, therefore, paying a visit to Ha Giang at this time, travelers will have a great opportunity not only to participate in the Hmong Ethnic Culture Festival but also admire the breathtaking beauty of buckwheat flowers. In the framework of the second Buckwheat Flower Festival 2016, there will be a number of art programs; street festival with folk music and colorful ethnic costume’s performances; exhibition of cultural, agricultural, and tourism products, and other interesting activities. Buckwheat Flower Festival 2016 will be organized in Meo Vac District, Ha Giang Province.
Hmong Ethnic Culture Festival and Buckwheat Flower Festival are important festivals in Ha Giang Province to honor the cultural values of ethnic groups and the natural beauty of the province. The festivals will contribute to promote Ha Giang tourism and attract tourists visiting the province and exploring the multicolor culture of different ethnic groups.
