Make Use Of Public Airport Transfer

As of 2025, at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, travelers have several transportation options available. Airport taxis to downtown Hanoi now operate at fixed prices of approximately US$20 for a sedan and US$25 for an SUV. This fare includes toll charges, so you can simply provide your destination address to the driver and enjoy the journey, which typically takes around an hour. For rides from downtown to Noi Bai, the fare remains competitive at about $15 for pick-up services from your hotel.

Another convenient option is the airport minibus, which offers rides to your hotel or residence for as low as $3. However, be mindful that the minibuses only depart once they are full, and at popular times, this can result in delays due to high demand.

If you prefer a budget-friendly way to travel, the public bus service also operates from Hanoi Airport. Bus numbers 7 and 17 run directly to the city center. You can catch these buses right outside the terminal exit, where they operate every 15 to 20 minutes from 5 AM to 10 PM. The fare for a ticket is still very economical at around 10,000 VND (approximately US$0.40). Bus number 7 takes you to Kim Ma Station, where you will need to transfer to bus number 9 for the Old Quarter. Alternatively, bus number 17 travels straight to Long Bien Station, just a few blocks from the historic area.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the air-conditioned airport bus number 152 is a great low-cost transport option, with fares remaining at 6,000 VND plus an additional 6,000 VND for luggage handling. This bus takes passengers to Ben Thanh Market roundabout or the Pham Ngu Lao area. Buses are available until 6 PM, so don’t be deterred by taxi drivers claiming that public buses have stopped running. Make sure to have some small bills ready to pay for the fare so you can begin your exploration without hassle.

Taxis in Ho Chi Minh City also offer a reliable alternative, with reasonable rates. It’s advisable to walk at least 100 meters from the terminal exit to catch a ride, as only certain taxi companies are permitted to pick up passengers close to the airport. Look for reputable companies like Mai Linh or Vinasun, which are known for their fair pricing.

Expect to pay approximately 100,000 to 200,000 VND for a taxi ride from the airport to the city center. Taxi rates vary between companies but generally start around 17,000 VND per kilometer, with a toll fee of approximately 5,000 VND. During the quieter hours, from 10 PM to 6 AM, the travel time to the city center can be as brief as 20 minutes, but you should typically allow up to an hour for the journey during peak traffic times.
