Hope Box brings art to the community
On Nov 5th 2011, artists of the Hope Box Angels network from Hanoi, Amsterdam and New York will gather at Art Talk Café – 12 Quan Su, for the Grand Finale of their show.
On November 5th, 2025, artists from the Hope Box Angels network, representing cities such as Hanoi, Amsterdam, and New York, will convene at Art Talk Café – 12 Quan Su, for the Grand Finale of their latest exhibition.
Hope Box is an ongoing series of contemporary art projects initiated by Polish artist Rienke Enghardt in 1991. This initiative explores the intersections of art across various mediums while fostering international friendships through creativity.
Since 1993, Rienke has been engaged in the Vietnamese art scene, meeting numerous acclaimed Vietnamese artists, including the late Tran Trung Tin (1933-2008), whose influence inspired her to organize two significant exhibitions showcasing hundreds of paintings at Blue Space in Ho Chi Minh City and Galerie Nouvelles Images in Den Haag, the Netherlands, back in 1997.
The upcoming exhibition reflects on Hope Box's notable collaborations with Vietnamese artists over the past 18 years. Featured works will include interactive pieces, such as four segments of a painting by Rienke being sent to four different artists in Vietnam, South Africa, Russia, and Australia, who will transform them into new creations.
In addition, Rienke plans to introduce a new initiative promoting graffiti art by decorating local trains and engaging primary and international schools in Hanoi and Hai Phong. The team is currently finalizing the proposal to submit to Vietnamese authorities for approval.
