Sapodilla
About Vietnam's sapodillas (hồng xiêm):
Sapodilla, having been introduced to Vietnam from Central America many years ago, has gained significant popularity over the last two decades. This tropical fruit is primarily cultivated in northern Vietnam, characterized by an egg-like shape and a brownish skin. When fully ripe, its brown and yellow pulp is exceptionally juicy, offering a sweet, molasses-like flavor. Sapodilla bears fruit year-round, with Xuan Dinh in Tu Liem District, Hanoi, renowned for producing some of the best-quality fruits.
