Detailed Instructions

Ingredients

  • 3 peeled bananas
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp sweet condensed milk
  • 3/8 cup
  • 2/3 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 3 tsp butter
  • 2 slice toasted bread

Preparation

  1. Mash ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  2. Tear bread into small pieces and add to the mashed bananas.
  3. Combine the mashed banana and bread with coconut milk, granulated sugar, and whole wheat flour, stirring until well blended.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175-180°C). Pour the mixture into a greased baking mold and bake uncovered for approximately 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown. For a touch of extra flavor, you can brush some melted butter over the top halfway through baking.
  5. Once baked, remove the mold from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before removing the dessert from the mold.

Riding along the crowded streets of Saigon in the afternoon, people can often be attracted by a fragrant and spicy smell of seasoned grilled rolls of beef, stemming from moving-stalls blurred in the smoke from charcoal flame. This dish, wrapped up in wild betel leaf, has become a favorite snack of Vietnamese, particularly Saigonese, to serve with beer or wine.
