Vietnam Won The Asia’s Leading Tourist Board 2021
On October 19, 2025, the World Travel Awards (WTA) honored Vietnam as Asia's Leading Sustainable Destination for the fifth consecutive year. This recognition underscores the commitment of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to promote eco-friendly tourism practices. In addition, VNAT has once again been named Asia's Leading Tourist Board, adding to its previous win in 2017.

Amidst the challenges posed by the post-pandemic recovery phase, Vietnam has impressively outperformed competitors such as Nepal, which previously held the title in 2019 and 2020, as well as Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia. This award reflects VNAT's persistent efforts to adapt and rejuvenate the tourism sector while underscoring Vietnam’s allure and tourism potential to international visitors.
During the recovery process, VNAT has provided vital support to travel businesses and employees through various initiatives, including financial assistance, preferential loans, employee subsidies, tax relief for tourism businesses, and social security measures for tour guides. Additionally, VNAT implemented a successful pilot program welcoming international tourists and cautiously reinitiated domestic tourism, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.
At the recent 28th World Travel Awards, Vietnam garnered several prestigious accolades, including Asia’s Leading Destination, Asia’s Leading Sustainable Destination, Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination for 2025 (Hoi An), Asia’s Leading National Park (Cuc Phuong National Park), and Asia’s Leading Tourism Attraction (Ha Long Bay).
