Hanoi to expand tourist electric bus operation

It is good news for tourists visiting Hanoi that a plan to expand the operation of tourist electric bus fleet with more routes to the city’s hot spots has been approved by the local government.

It is great news for tourists visiting Hanoi that the local government has approved an expansion plan for the operation of the tourist electric bus fleet, adding more routes to the city’s popular attractions.

Since July 2010, in addition to motorbikes, cyclos, and taxis, tourists exploring Hanoi Old Quarter have been able to choose a new mode of transport—electric-powered tourist buses, also known as green buses. Each bus accommodates 8 to 10 passengers and takes them on a tour through 40 streets in the Hoan Kiem district, around the Old Quarter, and to Sword Lake at an affordable price of only VND 20,000 (approximately USD 0.85).

According to the recent expansion plan, the new routes will feature additional stops at some of the city’s most famous tourist spots, including the Temple of Literature, One-Pillar Pagoda, the Citadel, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and Ba Dinh Square. Notably, a new route around West Lake, serviced by 30 buses, is set to launch soon. This means that tourists will find it easier to experience all the must-see sights in Hanoi with the assistance of these eco-friendly vehicles.
