The Mid-Autumn festival or Moon festival, a special occasion for children in Vietnam as well as in some Asian countries like China, Korea, is on its way. As usual, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has planed to host a long-day program with diverse and interesting activities to celebrate this festival.

This year, the program themed “The Color of Sea” will focus on picturing the daily life activities and traditional art performances of the local people settling down in coastal landscapes. Besides, children are bound to be exposed to the distinct culture of coastal areas as well as lost in the world of the ocean through numerous games: making toys or paintings by sea shells, finding the treasure, Voyage Journal, and so on. These typical activities are promised to bring the visitors the “color” and “smell” of the ocean and a good time to remember.

Besides being part of exciting folk games like “Chong nu chong hoa”, “Ap o ga”, “Rong ran len may”, tourists, especially the children will be taken to the world of traditional toys and handicrafts exclusively for Mid-Autumn Festival like “Den ong sao”, “Den keo quan”, “Trong boi”, “To he”. And it is so great that they will have chance to get to know how the toys are made with their own eyes and even try making them by themselves. Moreover, a tea exhibition will be launched to introduce the subtle flavor of Vietnamese traditional drink and tea-making process to the public.

“The Color of Sea” is to welcome tourists in 3 days from September 10th to 12th, 2011 at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Nguyen Van Huyen road, Cau Giay district, Hanoi.
