The Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival, is a cherished occasion for children in Vietnam as well as in several Asian countries, including China and Korea. This year, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has planned to host an extended program filled with diverse and engaging activities to celebrate this special festival.

For 2025, the program is themed “The Color of the Sea” and will highlight the daily life activities and traditional art performances of the local communities living along coastal landscapes. Children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of these coastal areas, while also enjoying a variety of games such as making sea shell toys or paintings, treasure hunts, and Voyage Journals. These engaging activities are sure to provide visitors with a rich taste of the ocean’s “color” and “smell,” creating memorable experiences.

In addition to participating in exciting folk games like “Chong nu chong hoa,” “Ap o ga,” and “Rong ran len may,” tourists—especially children—will be introduced to traditional toys and handicrafts unique to the Mid-Autumn Festival, including “Den ong sao,” “Den keo quan,” “Trong boi,” and “To he.” They will have the opportunity to witness how these toys are made firsthand and even try their hand at crafting them. Furthermore, there will be a tea exhibition that showcases the delicate flavors of Vietnamese traditional tea and the art of tea-making.

“The Color of the Sea” event invites tourists from September 10th to 12th, 2025, at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, located on Nguyen Van Huyen Road, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
