Celebrate Fall festival with Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

From September 10 to 12, 2025, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (7 Nguyen Van Huyen, Hanoi) will host a variety of engaging activities primarily designed for children during the Fall Festival.

Each year, Vietnamese children eagerly anticipate this special occasion, which typically occurs in late September or early October (on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar calendar). This celebration has become a universal holiday in Vietnam, where families come together, cousins reunite, and friends gather to celebrate the festival.

Traditionally, this holiday allows farmers to celebrate the success of their recent harvests. People prepare various offerings, including grapefruits representing the moon, Banh Nuong, and Banh Deo made from common ingredients, along with a selection of seasonal fruits. While these customs have persisted, in urban areas, the focus has shifted more towards children's enjoyment rather than adult observance.

If you are traveling with children, be sure to include this event in your itinerary, as it promises to be a fun-filled experience where your family can enjoy and learn about Vietnamese culture.

How to get there:

The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is approximately a 20-minute taxi ride from the Hanoi Old Quarter. Choose a reputable taxi service and ask the driver to take you to "Bảo tàng Dân tộc học".
