Every year, Vietnamese children are all excited about this special occasion, often taking place in September or October (August 15 of Lunar Year). This is almost a Vietnam's universal holiday, where family gather, cousins reunite, and friends get together and celebrate the festival.
Traditionally, the holiday is for farmers to cherish their past successful harvesting season. People chip in a number of offerings - grapefruits representing the moon, Banh Nuong and Banh Deo made out of everyday ingredients, and other seasonal fruits. This custom continues until today but in cities, it is more for kids than for their parents.
