Son La Geography
Son La, renowned for its picturesque highland areas – Moc Chau and Na San, remains one of the representative provinces of Northwestern Vietnam as of 2025. This province shares borders with Yen Bai and Lai Chau to the North, Thanh Hoa, Luang Prabang (Laos), and Houaphan (Laos) to the South, and Hoa Binh and Phu Tho to the East, while it meets Dien Bien to the West. A significant feature of Son La is its extensive 250 km border with Laos, which plays a vital role in trade and cultural exchange.
