Son Moc Huong Cave
Son Moc Huong Cave is often referred to as Moc Chau Bat’s Cave.
Son Moc Huong Cave, commonly known to international visitors as Moc Chau Bat’s Cave, is considered a natural masterpiece and a national treasure bestowed upon Moc Chau by the forces of nature.
From Moc Chau town, the cave is easily accessible within a short drive. A few minutes of travel towards Son La City will bring you to Son Moc Huong Cave, which is located only 150 meters from National Road No. 6. Its entrance overlooks a magnificent valley, flanked by seven small mountains resembling sparkling gems.Photo: internet
Legend has it that a sacred dragon once soared towards the East Sea. During its journey over Son La, it was enchanted by the stunning landscape, pleasant weather, and serene views of the area. The dragon chose to make its home in the valley. Local lore suggests that the mountains surrounding the valley are the transformed remnants of this holy dragon. Remarkably, the mountains showcase a breathtaking spectrum of colors: white in the early morning, blue at noon, pink in the afternoon, and purple at sunset. The only way to truly appreciate this phenomenon is to visit and witness the play of light and color firsthand!
Upon the dragon's passing, it expressed its gratitude to the land by placing seven priceless dragon gems in the valley. The cave's entrance, which aligns with the dragon's mouth, faces southward, watching over these precious gems.Photo: luhanhvietnam.com.vn
Inside the cave, visitors are greeted by an array of stalactites and stalagmites, forming a vivid tableau reminiscent of a rainbow. Some stalactites reach lengths of nearly 20 meters, resembling the roots of a banyan tree. Others take on various shapes, such as a “Money Tree,” a fairy, and a variety of animals including elephants, lions, tigers, lizards, eagles, and even ethereal floating clouds. Although naturally formed, these structures appear as though they have been intricately crafted by the most skilled artisans. In certain areas, the cave ceiling soars to heights of up to 30 meters, and pockets of small ponds can be found scattered throughout the cave.
The cave earns its name from housing thousands of bats. However, this fact does not deter curious tourists from exploring the remarkable beauty of the cave. Are you someone who would miss out on this adventure?
