Typhoon NESAT gets more flights cancelled

Vietnam Airlines has decided to cancel all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Danang to Hai Phong for September 30th.

Typhoon NESAT made landfall on Vietnam's Northern coast today, impacting the areas of Hai Phong and Halong Bay with wind speeds reaching up to 119 kph. Local authorities and tourism businesses have collaborated to mitigate the effects of the typhoon by closing schools, suspending tours around the bay, and relocating affected households.

Given the risks associated with flights to the typhoon-affected region, Vietnam Airlines has announced the delay of all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to Hai Phong. These flights will be rescheduled for tomorrow when weather conditions are expected to improve. Additionally, two flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku, located in the central highlands, are also postponed. Passengers are advised to monitor storm updates and adjust their travel plans as necessary.

Recently, Typhoon Number 4 also caused delays for 28 flights from central Vietnam. Although cancellations are inconvenient, they prioritize the safety of passengers.

As for NESAT, travelers are advised to refrain from visiting Halong Bay until tomorrow evening. While the typhoon is not expected to directly affect Hanoi, it will result in strong winds and heavy rainfall in the area on Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1. If you plan to go out, it's best to bring a raincoat or umbrella; indoor activities are highly recommended. (Photo by NCHMF).
