On 4th August, 2011, Ho Khanh, the professional guide to grotto exploration in Quang Binh announced that he had discovered two new grottoes here.

The grotto named 97 is 765 meters long and the 98 one is 750 meters long. Though their lengths are much shorter than the other grottoes explored in Quang Binh, hundreds of charming and great stalactites feature the attractiveness of the grottoes. According to Ho Khanh, the grottoes’ ceiling is 60 meters high and the stalactites inside are also high, up to 30 meters. More notably, these two grottoes’ floors seem to be elegantly created by human rather than the Creator due to their smooth and flat surface, totally different from disorderly floors of other common grottoes.

The names of two grottoes are given by Ho Khanh to memorize the time  he lost the way in forest in an exploring trip (1997, 1998).

The cave 97 and 98 are situated in area of the World Natural Heritage Site Phong Nha- Ke Bang, which is named among the greatest grottoes in the world. Finding out the two new grottoes once again proves the magnificence of grotto system in Quang Binh, making the attraction more appealing and adventurous.
