Kate which is celebrated annually on July 1st according to Cham calendar is the integral festival to the Cham ethnic people like Tet holiday to the Kinh people. It is an occasion for Cham people to show their respect and tribute to the Deity and ancestors.

As traditional, the festival will feature a procession of palanquin and costumes of Po Sah Inu Goddess, a ceremony to open the tower’s gate, giving way to Linga and Yoni ceremony. Besides, folk music performances, contests of brocade weaving, cake making, and folk games are likely to be the most exciting parts of the event.

The festival will be hosted by Cham people in Ham Thuan Bac district; however, many folk music performances will be presented with the help of Cham artists from neighboring districts like Ham Phu, Ham Tri or Ma Lam town. Especially, tourists taking part in the festival will stand a golden chance to get to know about Cham rituals and play traditional musical instruments like Ginang and Baranung drums, Saranai horn, under the local’s instruction. If you soon fall in love with white sandy beach, blue sea  and first-class service of resorts in Mui Ne, it takes no longer for you to be immersed in the rich culture here. Let’s hurry to plan your trip and do not forget to add Kate Festival to your to-do list!
