Impact for Peace exhibition - A closer look on unexploded mine clearance

40 black and white photos taken by famous photographer Sean Sutton and the installation artworks that show mine and unexploded ordnance clearing activities conducted by Mine Advisory Group (MAG) since 1999, are presented to the audiences in a special exhibition named Impact for Peace from 6 - 16 October at Maison des Arts (31A Van Mieu, Hanoi).

An exhibition titled "Impact for Peace" will showcase 40 black and white photographs by renowned photographer Sean Sutton, along with installation artworks reflecting the mine and unexploded ordnance clearing efforts conducted by the Mine Advisory Group (MAG) since its inception in 1999. This special exhibition will take place from October 6 to October 16, 2025, at Maison des Arts, located at 31A Van Mieu, Hanoi.

The exhibition aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the positive outcomes of MAG's mine clearing activities in Vietnam while raising awareness about the dangers of explosive remnants. It seeks to illuminate the ongoing struggles faced by communities living in mine-affected areas, more than three decades after the war officially concluded.

Through each image, the desire for "Peace" will resonate with attendees, emphasizing the need for a world free from the threat of landmines and unexploded ordnance. The exhibition will reveal that the impacts of war extend beyond immediate loss and damage, continuing to affect lives long after conflicts have ended.

Sean Sutton, a former photojournalist, has documented the aftermath of conflict in various regions afflicted by war, including Cambodia, Afghanistan, the former Yugoslavia, and Vietnam. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has focused on capturing the stories of local communities in post-conflict zones. Sutton has been working with the Mine Advisory Group (MAG) since 1997, contributing to its mission of clearing mines and explosive remnants in areas affected by conflict around the globe.
