Home Visit Tours with Hanoi Students
Since the mid July, 2011, foreign tourists who want to discover Vietnamese’s lifestyle and culture together with the local ones, can make their dream come true by joining the “Home Visit Tour”.
Since mid-July 2015, foreign tourists eager to explore Vietnam's lifestyle and culture in an authentic way can participate in the “Home Visit Tour,” a project initiated by Hanoi Kids and the Students in Free Enterprise of Hanoi University (SIFE HANU). This non-profit initiative provides visitors with a unique chance to immerse themselves in the daily lives of local families, as well as to discover Vietnamese history, culture, and religion by visiting, dining, and conversing with family members.
During the dinner featuring traditional Vietnamese dishes, guests learn about the ingredients and cooking methods, along with the cultural significance behind these meals. Participants also get to witness the harmonious coexistence of three generations within a Vietnamese extended family. This experience often leads to fascinating reflections and comparisons between Vietnamese customs and modern Western lifestyles.
The Home Visit Tour is an engaging, cost-effective, and accessible option for tourists. The tour operates from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily in Hanoi. Each group, consisting of two to eight guests, can be transported from their hotels to the host family’s home using various means, such as cyclo, motorbike, taxi, or bus.
