3rd Comic Festival at Hanoi Library

Information from Hanoi Library reports that the 3rd Comic Festival in Vietnam is projected to take place at Hanoi Library this June, starting with an opening ceremony on June 1st and lasting until June 8.

Information from Hanoi Library reports that the 3rd Comic Festival in Vietnam is projected to take place at Hanoi Library this June, starting with an opening ceremony on June 1st and lasting until June 8. This is the joint event of Kim Dong Publishing House and the Wallonie – Bruxelles Delegation (Belgium), with support from Hanoi Library.

This year festival concentrates on numerous activities about comics of both Vietnam and Belgium, such as exhibition of outstanding comics composed by Belgian and Vietnamese painters, conference on composing comics and talk show with young readers who love comics in Vietnam. The most attractive activities are Exhibition “the journey in the 9th art: comic books of Wallonie – Bruxelles” showcasing masterpieces of about 40 comic composers in Belgium, and exhitbition “From Ideal to Comic Books” in which there areabout 30 works of 11 young Vietnamese composers.

Participating in the festivals are many comic experts in both Vietnam and Belgium, including comic painters, editors and publishing houses. Among them are some famous names such as Jean Auquier – Director of Belgian Comics, founder of Comic Festival in Vietnam, or Jean-Claude Servais – famous Belgian comic composer.

Being successfully organized in Vietnam in 2010 and 2011, the Comic Festival in Vietnam is a place for comic lovers and writers to meet each other and share their love in comics. Also, with participation of international comics, guests are given chances to observe and follow the development of comic industry all over the world.
