This resumption firstly applies to nine destinations namely San Francisco or Los Angeles (the US), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Vientiane (Laos), Beijing or Guangzhou (China), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), and Taipei.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has been working on the mutual agreements on "vaccine passports". Meanwhile, the Health Ministry is expected to issue a guideline on mandatory quarantine no later than 15th December that will allow passengers with two doses of vaccine to self-isolate on arrival.

The decision was officially announced on December 10th, bringing hope to airlines, local tourism businesses, keen tourists and especially Vietnamese expats who plan to return for the major Tet holiday in January 2022.

Further update on prerequisite for entry and procedure post-entry to follow.
