Typhoon NESAT gets more flights cancelled
Vietnam Airlines has decided to cancel all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Danang to Hai Phong for September 30th.
Typhoon NESAT, with wind speeds reaching 119 kph, made landfall on Vietnam's northern coast early today, affecting areas such as Hai Phong and Halong Bay. In response, local authorities and tourism operators have collaborated to mitigate the impact of the typhoon, implementing school closures, canceling tours around the bay, and relocating residents in the most affected zones.
Recognizing the risks posed by the severe weather, Vietnam Airlines has postponed all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to Hai Phong until tomorrow when conditions are predicted to improve. Additionally, two flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku, located in the central highlands, will also face delays throughout the day. Passengers are advised to monitor updates related to the storm and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
Just four days prior, Typhoon number 4 caused the cancellation of 28 flights affecting central Vietnam. Although frustrating, these cancellations prioritize the safety of customers as airlines navigate challenging weather conditions.
As for NESAT, travelers are advised to avoid heading to Halong Bay until the end of tomorrow. While the typhoon is not expected to directly hit Hanoi, it will generate strong winds and heavy rainfall throughout Friday and Saturday. It is recommended to carry a raincoat or umbrella for those venturing outside, and indoor activities are suggested during this time. (Photo by NCHMF).
