“The Color of Sea” Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

The Mid-Autumn festival or Moon festival, a special occasion for children in Vietnam as well as in some Asian countries like China, Korea, is on its way. As usual, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has planed to host an endless program with diverse and interesting activities to celebrate this festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, remains a significant celebration for children in Vietnam and various Asian countries like China and Korea. As anticipated, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is set to host a day-long program filled with diverse and engaging activities to commemorate this festival.

This year's program, themed “The Color of Sea,” will highlight the daily lives and traditional artistic expressions of local communities residing along Vietnam's coastal regions. Children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique culture of these areas, while also exploring the marine world through a variety of interactive games. Activities include crafting toys and artwork using seashells, treasure hunts, and creating a Voyage Journal. These activities promise to vividly evoke the “color” and “scent” of the ocean, ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors.

In addition to participating in traditional folk games such as “Chong nu chong hoa,” “Ap o ga,” and “Rong ran len may,” guests, especially children, will also delve into traditional toys and crafts specifically designed for the Mid-Autumn Festival, including “Den ong sao,” “Den keo quan,” “Trong boi,” and “To he.” Attendees will have the exciting opportunity to observe firsthand how these toys are created and even try their hand at making them. A tea exhibition will also be held, showcasing the delicate flavors of Vietnamese traditional tea and the intricacies of the tea-making process.

“The Color of Sea” will welcome visitors for three days, from September 29th to October 1st, 2025, at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, located at 1 Nguyen Van Huyen Road, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
