Lotus voted as Vietnam National Flower
According to a poll organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) for Vietnam’s national flower, lotus ranks first on the list with 71,1% votes.
A recent poll conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) has reaffirmed the lotus as Vietnam's national flower, with an overwhelming 72.3% of the total votes. Following the lotus are the Hoa Mai (Apricot Blossom) with 17.4% and peach blossom with 6.5%, out of more than 65,000 votes cast.
Deputy Minister of MoCST Le Tien Tho stated that the lotus was chosen for its deep roots in Vietnamese culture and its widespread growth across the nation. The flower symbolizes the cultural identity and national spirit of Vietnam, recognized for its beauty and pleasant fragrance. The lotus has also been featured extensively in traditional literature, cultural expressions, and architectural landmarks throughout the country.
Professor To Ngoc Thanh, a member of the Advisory Council on Vietnam’s National Flower, commented in an interview with the Labour Newspaper, "While India and Sri Lanka have chosen their own versions of the lotus as national flowers—the white lotus—we proudly embrace our pink lotus. This flower embodies the noble heart and pure spirit of the Vietnamese people and serves as a powerful symbol of our nation."
Vietnam Online, in collaboration with various national agencies and corporate partners, including Vietnam Airlines, has worked to promote the lotus as the official national flower of Vietnam, further embedding this symbol into the nation's identity and cultural heritage.
