Hanoi voted as the best city for beer lovers
Voted by global travelers and beer enthusiasts on the online travel platform Booking.com, Hanoi remains the top destination for enjoying beer in Vietnam as of 2025.
With a brewing history dating back to the 19th century during French colonial rule, Hanoi is particularly famous for its draft beer, known as “bia hoi” in Vietnamese, available at numerous locations throughout the city. Booking.com describes Hanoi as "a must-visit beer haven," where visitors can relish the experience of sipping bia hoi while seated on a traditional plastic stool.
The survey targeted adult travelers, both business and leisure, who had traveled within the past 12 months and planned to travel in the upcoming 12 months. A total of 47,728 respondents participated from 28 countries and territories.
According to Booking.com, the intersection of Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets is a popular destination for refreshing bia hoi, featuring numerous bars, eateries, and beer stalls lining the sidewalks. Locally brewed daily, bia hoi has an alcohol content of approximately 3% and is notably affordable. A typical 300ml glass of bia hoi costs between VND 8,000 and VND 12,000, whereas bottled or canned beers generally range from VND 28,000 to VND 250,000.
