Hanoi Old Quarter to expand the walking area
The expanded pedestrian area, which covers prominent sites like Bach Ma temple, Huong Tuong temple, Quan De communal house, ancient house at 87 Ma May Street and many 18-19th century architectural works of art, promises a more exciting walk for tourists.
As usual, walking through the streets in the Old Quarter, such as Hang Dao, Hang Ngang, Hang Duong, and Dong Xuan, has become increasingly lively as day turns into night. These areas attract numerous tourists eager to explore local souvenirs displayed across hundreds of stalls, enjoy traditional art performances, savor delicious street food served from various vendors, or simply immerse themselves in the vibrant ambiance of the night market.
However, some smaller food stalls still struggle with hygiene standards and often provide inadequate customer service, indicating that improvements are necessary.
To enhance the variety of dishes available to tourists and to promote Hanoi cuisine, Do Xuan Thuy, the director of Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company, announced that the walking area will be expanded to include Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Ta Hien, and Dao Duy Tu, extending beyond the core of the Old Quarter. This expansion will introduce more restaurants and food shops to these streets. Thanks to this initiative, pedestrians will be introduced to a diverse world of gastronomy. Tourists, especially international visitors, will have an excellent opportunity to experience unique specialties from all three regions of Vietnam, which will be beautifully prepared and warmly presented.
The expanded pedestrian area, which encompasses notable sites like Bach Ma Temple, Huong Tuong Temple, Quan De Communal House, the ancient house at 87 Ma May Street, and many architectural masterpieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, promises an even more enriching walking experience for tourists.
