Favoured by Mother Nature with stunning landscapes, abundant natural resources, and being a melting pot of cultural diversity, Dien Bien possesses great potential for developing cultural and historic tourism in 2025.

In 2015, Dien Bien Province initiated a plan to enhance local tourism in eight cultural hamlets throughout the area, including Noong Bua, Co My, Ten, U Va, Pe Luong, Phieng Loi, Him Lam 2 (Dien Bien Phu Town), and Men (Dien Bien District). Catering to visitors, each of these hamlets is equipped with a professional team of 15-20 members, including tour guides, food servers, artists, and security personnel.

While visiting these ethnic minority tribes, tourists have the opportunity to engage in unique activities reflecting local daily life, such as farming, knitting, or weaving. They can also savor the specialties of the mountainous region, including grilled fish, grilled pork rolled with herbal leaves, and bamboo shoots, while enjoying traditional melodies performed by local artists.

The People’s Committee of Dien Bien has set ambitious goals for the coming years, targeting an annual increase of 10-15% in visitor numbers. By 2025, they anticipate welcoming approximately 75,000 visitors, including a projected 18,000 foreign tourists.
