1,680 emission-free buses operated soon in Ho Chi Minh City

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation, the city has now incorporated over 1,600 environmentally friendly buses into its public transportation system. This initiative, which began in 2011, aimed to enhance the quality of the city's bus service and has been ongoing through the years.

The fleet includes 600 buses with a capacity of 80 passengers, 500 buses for 55 passengers, and 600 buses that accommodate 40 passengers. All new buses are equipped with modern facilities, adhere to Euro VI emissions standards, and predominantly run on compressed natural gas (CNG) or electricity, significantly reducing their environmental impact.

Additionally, as part of the city’s commitment to providing excellent service, all bus drivers and conductors undergo regular training to improve their customer service skills and enhance their interactions with passengers.

As of early 2025, the fleet has grown to include 25 new clean buses outfitted with automatic ticket vending machines, customer feedback systems, and designs catering to disabled, pregnant, and elderly passengers. This project has garnered positive feedback from the public, indicating an improvement in the overall travel experience.

With these advancements, tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City now have access to additional transportation options, making it easier to navigate the city. The city’s total fleet has surpassed 3,500 buses, with a significant portion being newer models that comply with contemporary emissions standards, ensuring a cleaner environment for both residents and visitors.
