1,680 emission-free buses operated soon in Ho Chi Minh City

According to Ho Chi Minh Department of Transportation, 1,680 environment friendly buses are going to be operated in this city in the period of 2011-2013 to enhance the city’s bus service.

571 buses with the capacity of 80 passengers, 409 buses with the capacity of 55 and the left 700 buses with the capacity of 40 are expected to come into use soon. All of these new buses have good facility, meet Euro III standards on exhaust emissions and run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

In addition, all bus drivers and conductors are required to enhance their attitude to passengers.

Since last August, 21 new clean buses with automatic selling ticket machine, recommendation box, and convenient design for disabled, pregnant and elderly passengers have been added to the city’s fleet. The project has received positive reactions from passengers.

After the 1,680 bus project being launched, tourists to Ho Chi Minh City will have one more transportation option, which facilitates their travelling routes. Ho Chi Minh City currently has a fleet of more than 3000 buses. However, most of them are old and release polluting exhaust fumes, which are not preferred by locals and tourists.
