“To the place where we want to forget,” the first video installation by emerging artist Truong Que Chi, will take place at the Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi from September 11th to 13th, 2025.

The impressive exhibition space resembles a confessional, shrouded in darkness and adorned with black curtains. Visitors who enter are transported to another world, where they can leave behind unpleasant memories and lighten the burdens of their souls.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a series of videos displayed on multiple screens arranged along the aisle. These videos feature dialogues among diverse individuals, including veterans, schoolchildren, and artists, sharing their experiences of memories they wish to forget. The exhibition space serves as a “Black box” of the soul, where all the topics one wants to forget are openly discussed and left behind.

While the narratives are deeply personal, the resonance of these stories transcends the individual experiences shared. Visitors will find connection and empathy within the broader context of loss and memory.

Join us to listen to their memories—and feel free to share your own.
