The first Piano Festival in Vietnam

With the purpose of setting up a professional art and cultural activity, as well as celebrating its 55th anniversary, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music hosts the first Piano Festival from October 18th to 23th, 2011.

To celebrate its 65th anniversary and foster professional artistic and cultural activities, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music is hosting the first Piano Festival from October 18th to 23rd, 2025. This festival will feature a variety of music performances, academic lectures, and conferences focused on piano.

On October 18th, a conference on the history of piano art, led by professional pianist Vo Bao Lac Nhan, will kick off the festivities. Following this, there will be a conference dedicated to Franz Liszt, hosted by pianist and conductor Van Hung Cuong, who is associated with Shenandoah University, USA. This event will honor the legacy of this famed composer, marking the 210th anniversary of his birth. On October 20th, Piano Masterclasses, a performance class for exceptional piano students, will take place under the guidance of esteemed experts, Boris Kraljevic and Rena Cheung Phua, from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

The festival will showcase piano concerts featuring outstanding students from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music alongside renowned artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Hue Academy of Music, and international performers from the USA, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Korea. These concerts will take place over three consecutive nights from October 21st to 23rd.

Additionally, an exhibition highlighting the achievements of the conservatory over the last 65 years is anticipated. Tickets can be purchased directly at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory, located at 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Ticket prices for the concert on October 21st are VND 300,000 – 350,000, and for the concerts on October 22nd and 23rd, prices are VND 200,000 – 250,000.

Originally established in 1956 as the Sai Gon National Music School, the institution was renamed in 1981. Today, the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music stands as one of the premier centers for music education in Vietnam.
