An exciting concert by Quatuor Diotima, one of the best in the world of string quartets is about to take place at Hanoi’s L’Espace at 8.00pm, September 22th, 2011.

The renowned quartet consists of four members Vanessa Szigeti - violin, Yun Peng Zhao - violin, Frank Chevalier - alto and Pierre Morlet –violoncello, cello.

After wining the Contemporary Music Prize at the London String Quartet Competition in 2000, Quatuor Diotima has become one of the most internationally sought-after quartets in contemporary music, having won many honorable awards afterward.

The band has appeared at many major concert venues and music festivals across Europe such as Cité de la Musique, Berlin Philharmonie, Casa da Musica Porto and Athens Festival. This is the first Quatuor Diotima’s performance in Vietnam and they are expected to receive just as much ovation as they were in the USA, South America or some Asian countries like Japan, China and Korea.

Historically, French and Vietnamese music have experienced a lot of interactions. Many contemporary Vietnam composers are still influenced by the music that the French brought to Vietnam at the beginning of 20th century. The current state of music interaction between the two is considered important to promote new cultural exchange and at the same time maintain the old one.

Ticket is available at L’espace, 24 TrangTien Street, Hanoi starting August 22th, 2011, at 100,000vnd or 50,000vnd preferential fare for students.
