Lotus voted as Vietnam National Flower

According to a poll organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) for Vietnam’s national flower, lotus ranks first on the list with 71,1% votes.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) in 2025, the lotus has been reaffirmed as Vietnam's national flower, receiving 71.1% of the votes from over 60,000 participants. It was followed by Hoa Mai at 18.16% and peach blossom at 6.71%.

Deputy Minister of MoCST Le Tien Tho stated that the lotus was chosen due to its indigenous roots in Vietnam. The flower is cultivated widely across the country and represents both cultural heritage and national spirit. Renowned for its delightful fragrance, the lotus appears prominently in many traditional literary works as well as cultural and architectural masterpieces in Vietnam.

Professor To Ngoc Thanh, a member of the Advisory Council on Vietnam’s National Flower, commented in an interview with Labour Newspaper, "While both India and Sri Lanka have designated their lotus as national flowers, they feature the white lotus, whereas we celebrate our pink lotus. Our lotus embodies the noble character and pure spirit of the Vietnamese people, making it the ideal symbol of our nation."

Vietnam Online collaborates with several national organizations and businesses, including Vietnam Airlines, to promote the lotus, now recognized as Vietnam's official national flower.
