L’Espace to again listen to Le Cat Trong Ly arguing for her case

Renowned singer Le Cat Trong Ly, whose talent is revered among a niche of Vietnamese youth, is coming back to Hanoi with the hope of again selling out her show.

L’Espace has decided to invite the singer back in town for another round of performance after her two overwhelmingly successful shows last year. This time, Ly Le and her new band are going to reason with a hopefully-packed audience for 3 nights straight, from October 15th to 17th, still at the same 24 Trang Tien venue that has brought her ovation in 2010.

Ly, whose trademark image of singing while playing rhythm with her guitar is among the most recognizable in Vietnam’s showbiz these days, has been dubbed “the people’s new sensation”. Her unique, laid-back, soulful voice, coupled with a seemingly childish yet charismatic lyrics and her little-girl-from-the-neighborhood appearance have won her praise from critics and young listeners alike. She writes her own songs and plays to an influence of French colonial music before 1940, which seems to rhyme with the older generations also.

To see an off-the-beaten-track sensation of Vietnam, head to L’Espace Hanoi at 24 Trang Tien after October 10th. Ticket is 500,000vnd and preferred fare for students is 300,000vnd.
