Hanoi - Touring the West Lake by Electric Car is Prominent

In order to take advantage of West Lake tourism potential, the People’s Committee of Hanoi has initiated an experimental project of touring the lake by electrical cars. Following this plan, Department of Transportation and People’s Committee of Tay Ho District are responsible to cooperate with the City Police Department in order to research and provide regulations about the experimental timeline and route of the planned project.

The Department of Justice will evaluate and submit to The People’s Committee of Hanoi in August, 2011. This tourism project serves to explore the culture and history of the famous West Lake by electric cars is invested by Ho Tay Limited Liability Company and was approved by the People’s Committee of Hanoi. Using its own capital, the company will import 30 electric cars running 18km around the West Lake.

According to the planned route, there will be 10 stations and 35 stops which will be placed at public playgrounds, gardens as well as famous sights. Apart from sightseeing the scenic West Lake on the car, travelers will have a chance to visit 21 landscapes and sights around the lake such as Tran Quoc Pagoda, West Lake Park, Vong Thi pagoda. Accordingly, the service is supposed to commence by the end of 2011.

Besides the West Lake, the Old Quarter is the only other place in Hanoi with electric car service for tourists. The Electric Car tour was an effort by the tourism authority of the capital to revive the city history - which once just had electric car and bicycle instead of the motorbike buzz as seen nowadays.
