Gong Festival A Part of Hoa Binh 125 Year Foundation Festival
In order to celebrate 125 years of the province’s foundation and 20 years of successful reform, Hoa Binh province has run serial activities to celebrate its accomplishment and development, as well as to promote tourism potential and encourage local people to conserve cultural value of the district.
In celebration of 135 years since its establishment and 25 years of modernization and reform, Hoa Binh province has organized a series of activities to commemorate its achievements and development. The events aim to promote the province's tourism potential and encourage residents to preserve the cultural heritage of the district.
The program features numerous cultural and social events scheduled from September 28 to October 2 in Hoa Binh City. Highlights include an exhibition showcasing the social and economic accomplishments of Hoa Binh, a traditional cuisine fair, and celebrations marking the 135th anniversary of its founding. Notably, for the first time, a Gong Festival will include a Street Gong concert and a traditional costume competition. This festival will provide a prominent platform for Gong performers from across Vietnam to display their artistry and offers attendees a chance to immerse themselves in this unique cultural tradition of the region's ethnic minorities.
The celebration of the 135th anniversary will be broadcast live at 7:30 PM on October 2 on VTV1.
Hoa Binh was founded in 1886 during the French colonial period, created from territories originally belonging to other districts, including Son Tay, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Hung Hoa. This mountainous province is home to a diverse array of ethnic communities, including not only the Kinh people but also groups such as the Muong, Tay, Thai, and H’Mong, contributing to a rich tapestry of social diversity and cultural heritage. Along with its stunning landscapes, the province is recognized for its significant potential in developing the tourism industry.
