According to Nam Dan District (Nghe An) authority, the 2012 Sen Village Festival is organized at Kim Lien Village, home village of President Ho Chi Minh from May 17 to 19. This is a section of serial activities to celebrate the 122nd birthday of the renowned permanent president of Vietnam.

This year’s festival includes various activities such as art performances; process of carrying Ho Chi Minh’s pictures from his mother’s village to father’s village; and ceremony to announce accomplishment of Nam Dan people to Uncle Ho. However, what makes this year’s festival different than other years is the appearance of additional activities such as Singing voice of Sen Village Festival and Nghe An’s folksong Festival.

Sen Village Festival has been organized annually at home village of President Ho Chi Minh since 1981. This is not only an occasion for local people to remember their greatest leader, but also a reminder to later generations about epic history of the nation.

President Ho Chi Minh, called Uncle Ho by Vietnamese, is considered the greatest Vietnamese leader in 20th Century. He led Vietnamese people in the fight against French colonist and American invaders to regain independence before his death in 1969.
