In an attempt to promote tourism in the south-central and Phu Yen region of Vietnam, one of the main festivities is set to open for a period from August the 1st to the 4th.

The festival of local fishing villages, as it is called, will feature a nationally-televised grand opening ceremony on the night of August 2nd. The four-day event includes performances, sport competitions, a cooking tournament of traditional foods, galleries of the local activities and the introduction of some historic documents from the native villages. There will also be an exhibition of local products to draw interest and investment from domestic and foreign companies.

The festival is seen as a good opportunity for local villagers to share their knowledge, and for officials to promote tourism in this beautiful part of Vietnam. Coming are people from 10 provinces of Vietnam, from the south-central region all the way to Ho Chi Minh city. The festival also sees the attendance of Fourth Region Navy group servicemen, the Border Guard top command and some Navy Special Forces units.

The main events are held in Phan Rang - Tháp Chàm, Ninh Thuận.
