Information from L’Espace Hanoi announces that a concert of Ca Tru will be held at the center hall of this institution (24 Trang Tien Street) on June 13th from 8:00pm. The joint event of L’Espace and San Khau Viet Company opens the public for free.

The well-known Ca tru artist Pho Thi Kim Duc and her students are introducing their effort on preserving and resurrecting this traditional singing genre, including songs composed and performed by this singer and her troop.

In addition, Ca Tru experts are also expected to give speeches about “Ca Tru”, including Professor Tran Bang, former Director of Vietnam “Cheo” Theater, and Professor Nguyen Thuy Loan.

Pho Thi Kim Duc is considered a big name of traditional music in Vietnam. Learned Ca Tru since 7 years old, the artist has almost spent her whole life studying and popularizing this traditional music, and passing her passion to many generations.

Ca Tru is a genre of traditional music in the North of Vietnam, which is very popular in 15th Century. This genre of music was favored by higher-class audience, especially noble and scholars, and then became a royal kind of music. In 2009, Ca Tru was recognized by UNESCO to be an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of Urgent Safeguarding.
