On the occasion of Spain's national fiesta, renowned ballerina Cristina Hoyos will perform a series of flamenco shows titled “Poemas Flamencos” in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, presented by the Embassy of Spain. The performances will include two major shows at the Hanoi Opera House and Saigon Opera House at 8:00 PM on October 12 and 14, 2025, respectively, in addition to a special show at the Melia Hanoi Hotel on October 10, 2025.

A representative from the embassy has revealed that the show will feature three popular flamenco pieces from Spain: “Viaje al Sur” (A Trip to the South), “Romancero Gitano” (Gypsy Ballads), and “Poema del Cante Jondo” (Poem of Cante Jondo). These performances are specially choreographed for the Vietnamese audience and will be presented by five dancers accompanied by exclusive music inspired by the works of the renowned Spanish poet Federico García Lorca.

Cristina Hoyos is regarded as one of the foremost flamenco artists in Spain. This Sevilla native has had a distinguished career, taking on multiple roles including that of a flamenco dancer, choreographer, and actress, achieving numerous accolades. In 1988, she established her own flamenco troupe, “Ballet Cristina Hoyos,” to further enhance her artistic ambitions.

Flamenco is a unique fusion of music and dance that originated in Andalucía, Spain, during the 18th century. Its signature elements include the rapid rhythms of guitar and percussion, alongside the captivating movements of dancers that echo the gestures of matadors. In December 2010, UNESCO recognized Flamenco as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
