Spring Festival on Ba Den Mountain
The Spring Festival of Ba Den Mountain is an annual celebration that takes place during the first month of the lunar calendar. The main ceremonies are observed on the night of the 18th and the day of the 19th of this month. This traditional festival is significant for the communities residing in and around the Nui Ba complex.
During the festival days, the highest-ranking monks of Ba Den Temple perform the Moc Duc Ceremony at midnight, a time when the light in the main hall is at its lowest. The term Moc Duc translates to "To bathe the Goddess," during which the monks use incense-soaked towels to cleanse the statue of the Black Virgin. The ritual water is infused with scents from lotus, jasmine, and cinnamon. Following this, young girls dressed in elegant costumes reminiscent of princesses gracefully enter the hall, dancing in pairs while ceremony music plays in the background. They carefully wash and dress the statue in fresh garments. Once the rituals are complete, the monks honor the Goddess, seeking her blessings and protection before officially commencing the festival.Photo: quangninhnews.vn
