Cao Daism Teachings

Cao Daism is a religion that synthesizes elements from Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Taoism. Established in the early 1920s in southern Vietnam, Cao Daism was officially codified in 1926. The term "Cao Dai" translates to "the High Tower" in Vietnamese. Practitioners of Cao Daism are encouraged to be faithful to themselves, their families, society, and the world at large. As of 2025, the headquarters of Cao Daism is still situated in Tay Ninh, Vietnam. This site not only serves as a holy temple but also features breathtaking architectural designs that draw visitors from across the country and around the globe.

About The Holy See

The Cao Dai Great Temple, the main cathedral of the religion, is prominently located in Hoa Thanh District, approximately 5 km southeast of Tay Ninh City. Construction of the temple commenced in 1933 and was completed in 1955. The temple spans an impressive area of 5,600 square meters, measuring 140 meters in length and 40 meters in width. It features four distinct towers known as Tam Dai, Hiep Thien Dai, Cuu Trung Dai, and Bat Quai Dai. Despite its vibrant exterior and interior decorations, there exists a serene and sacred atmosphere within the temple. Visitors can explore the colonnaded hall and expansive sanctuary, where columns adorned with dragon motifs are painted in shades of white, red, pink, and blue. The dome above the main hall is divided into nine sections, symbolizing the heavens, and showcases a painting of a starry night. Beneath this dome is a large blue globe, prominently featuring the Divine Eye, which is the official symbol of Cao Daism.
