Baggage Allowance For Flights on Singapore Airlines

The baggage allowance varies depending on your point of departure.

Check Luggage

For flights to and from destinations such as Australia, Brunei, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, each checked bag must not exceed 32 kg. Flights to and from the US and Brazil allow up to 2 pieces per person in Economy class, with weight limits of 23 kg and 32 kg respectively for each piece. For other international routes, the allowance is typically 20 kg for each of the two checked bags.

Carry-on Luggage

Singapore Airlines permits each Economy class passenger to bring one piece of carry-on luggage, while Suites, First, and Business class passengers may bring two pieces. Each piece has a weight limit of 7 kg, and the combined dimensions (length + height + width) must not exceed 115 cm. Additionally, passengers can bring personal items such as handbags, purses, umbrellas, jackets, laptops, mobile devices, reading materials, and snacks.

Excess Baggage

If your baggage exceeds the allowed limit, you will incur additional fees. Excess baggage must be registered at the check-in counter, including an examination for security and documentation purposes.

Singapore Airlines employs zonal pricing for excess baggage for all destinations excluding the US and Brazil. Depending on the countries, fees range from $10 to $65 per kilogram, with further distances attracting higher charges.

For flights to and from the US and Brazil, a piece pricing methodology is used, and fees typically range from $90 to $175 based on the number of pieces rather than weight.

Executive / Business / First Class

The Business Class on Singapore Airlines is internationally regarded as one of the finest in the world. Passengers are treated to a spacious and luxurious environment, complete with high-end amenities. Each seat is designed for comfort, easily converting into a fully flat bed with pillows and blankets for a restorative sleep.

Business Class on Singapore Airlines

Each Business Class seat features a state-of-the-art entertainment system with a 15.4-inch LCD screen, offering a wide array of options including music, movies, and games. Additionally, meals served in this class are comparable to fine dining experiences, featuring an array of fresh and delectable dishes crafted by renowned chefs from around the globe.

Another perk of traveling in Business Class is that baggage allowance is greater than in Economy Class, allowing each piece to weigh up to 30 kg, compared to the 20 kg limit for Economy passengers.

Inflight Meals

Depending on the duration of your flight, you may receive a light snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Singapore Airlines is well-praised for its quality in-flight service. Passengers frequently commend the meals, which are both flavorful and varied in options. Popular dishes such as fish with accompanying sauces and fried rice are highly recommended.

During the Chinese New Year period, Singapore Airlines offers a special festive menu, allowing passengers to enjoy unique traditional dishes. Meals are served at optimal temperatures (neither too cold nor excessively hot). Chicken is frequently singled out as a favorite dish, while salads with oriental dressings introduce delightful new flavors.

However, there are some criticisms regarding meal service. Complaints about the size of drinking glasses have been noted, and peanut lovers may be disappointed as peanuts are not included in meal services. Free champagne is no longer available in Economy Class.

Singapore Airlines Safety Record

Singapore Airlines is widely regarded as one of the most reliable airlines in the world. Over the course of its extensive operation, the airline has experienced very few serious incidents, with none occurring on routes that serve Vietnam as either a departure or destination.
