Year-end shopping season: Vietnam's promotion battle
A number of retailers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) are in time for New Year big price cuts. While many super markets in Hanoi are offering amazing discount up to 50% on all products for Tet (foods, sweets, household items, and electronics), a number of shops in HCMC participate in price stabilization through out Tet season by offering 20- 40% additional amount of good for the market

While many super markets in Hanoi are offering amazing discount up to 50% on all products for Tet (foods, sweets, household items, and electronics), a number of shops in HCMC participate in price stabilization through out Tet season by offering 20- 40% additional amount of good for the market.
In Hanoi, big super market chains such as Big C, Pico Plaza, Intimex are providing customers with appealing price for most of the products, from now till after Tet holiday. From January 20th to February 13th, when shopping in Big C, customers can save up to 2-50% on 2,000 kinds of foods and beverage (Chung cake, ham, sweets, wine…), 50% on household items. Besides, Big C offers customers 15 kinds of Tet gift set costing VND50, 000 – 2,000,000 which makes the Tet gifting somehow easier.
Pico Plaza is starting their sale as well, with irresistible discount up to 50% on numerous kinds of household appliances, IT products. From January 23rd to 29th, Pico gives a pair of Chung cakes and pork roll (traditional Tet food) to any customers purchasing more then VND5 millions.
Intimex super markets also join in the promotion battle with average discount 5-15% on food products (pork, frozen foods, oil…), and longer-lasting opening hours from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
In HCMC, there are 13 enterprises participating in price-stabilization phase lasting two months from January 15th to March 15th, 2012, with commitment of offering discount on food products for Tet holiday such as: rice, pork, eggs, oil, fruits…and supplying a larger amount of products (20-40% additional).
For example, Saigon Co. op stores up to 7,850 tones of food products for Tet, and provides customers with great year-end deals with discount of more than 30% on sweets, packaged foods, from now till Tet holiday. Saigon Co. op also discounts up to 20% on more than 100 decorative items, now through February 29th, 2012; and 40% on Vietnam fashion brands of clothes.
