Vietnam welcomes 3.36 million international travelers for first half 2012

Latest figure from Vietnam General Statistic Office (GSO) shows that Vietnam has welcomed about 3.36 million of international travelers in the first half of 2012, 13.9% higher than the same period last year and also a half of target of Vietnam tourism industry for 6.5 international travelers for 2012.

Latest figures from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) indicate that in the first half of 2025, Vietnam welcomed approximately 6.5 million international travelers. This marks a significant 15% increase compared to the same period last year and aligns with the Vietnam tourism industry’s goal of attracting 12 million international visitors in 2025.

Among this number, the majority of tourists arrived in Vietnam by air, with 5.2 million arriving via flights, reflecting a 13% increase compared to the first half of 2024. Additionally, travelers coming to Vietnam via cruise ships have also seen a remarkable resurgence with a 30% increase over the same period in 2024. Major ports that have seen increased activity from international cruises include Halong Bay, Nha Trang, and Da Nang.

China, South Korea, and Thailand continue to be the most significant source markets for Vietnam's tourism industry in 2025. In 2025 alone, China contributed around 1.3 million visitors, accounting for about 20% of the total. South Korea and Thailand also demonstrated strong growth with increases of 35% and 25%, respectively.

The tourism industry has shown resilience in the face of global economic challenges, particularly from the post-pandemic recovery phase and ongoing fluctuations in international markets. Nevertheless, this situation presents an opportunity for Vietnam to attract an even larger number of international travelers, bolstered by its diverse tourism offerings and competitive pricing.
