Statistics published by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism report that approximately 8 million foreigners visited Vietnam in the first 5 months of 2025. This figure represents an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period last year.
Among these 8 million visitors, over 60% traveled to Vietnam for tourism purposes, while others visited the country for various reasons, including business, visiting friends and family, or job seeking. A significant number of tourists came from countries such as South Korea, the United States, Japan, and China.
While the overall trend is upward, the number of visitors in May saw a decrease of 20.3% compared to April, as well as a slight dip of 3.1% compared to May 2024.
The increasing number of foreigners visiting Vietnam, especially for tourism, is attributed to the growing international recognition of attractions such as Ha Long Bay, which remains celebrated as one of the "New 7 Wonders of Nature", as well as ongoing efforts by local administrations to promote Vietnam's tourism image globally through various festivals and events, such as the Hue Festival and the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, celebrated in the first half of 2025.
