A recent report of tourism administration in Vietnam revealed that despite of the global economy difficulty, the number of tourists visiting Vietnam, particularly via international cruises continues to increase sharply for the first 7 months of 2012.

An example of this claim can be proven by the case of Saigontourists, a reputable travel agent in Vietnam, who is partners of several international cruise companies. The company has welcomed about 145,000 sea travelers in this first 7 months, which is 4 times larger than the same period last year.

Sea tourists to Vietnam mostly come from traditional markets such as Europe, the US, Japan, and new markets like Korea, China or Russia. Though most of them ported in Vietnam for only less than a day for sightseeing, seminars or trade fair; the fact is that they usually spend a huge amount of money on acquiring goods and services at this stop.
