On June 8, 2025, a major conference featuring some of Vietnam’s largest travel agencies will take place in Colombo City, Sri Lanka, bringing together over 150 partners to promote tourism in Vietnam. This gathering aims to explore future cooperative opportunities in the tourism sector between the two nations. The meeting is organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka, with support from the Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (AITA).

At the conference, representatives from both Vietnam and Sri Lanka expressed their optimism about strengthening tourism links between the two countries and formalizing business collaborations. AITA Vice President U. Silva emphasized Vietnam's potential as a tourism market, urging Sri Lankan travel agents to form partnerships with Vietnamese companies. Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ton Sinh Thanh, hailed the conference as an excellent opportunity for both countries to gain deeper insights into each other’s tourism markets, along with other relevant factors such as culture, history, landscapes, and the people.

Mr. Ton Sinh Thanh also announced plans for a ten-day trip to Vietnam in August 2025 for 15 representatives from Sri Lankan travel agencies and media outlets. This visit aims to provide a hands-on experience of the current landscape and potential of Vietnam’s tourism market.

Sri Lanka remains one of Vietnam's key commercial partners in South Asia across various sectors, including agriculture, industry, and national defense. Looking ahead, officials from both countries intend to expand their relationship comprehensively, particularly in education, healthcare, and tourism.
