Vietnam Airlines launches first direct air route to Indonesia

The national flag carrier of Vietnam – Vietnam Airline has launched the first direct air route to Jakarta, Indonesia on December 2.

The national flag carrier of Vietnam – Vietnam Airlines has relaunched its direct air route to Jakarta, Indonesia, effective April 15, 2025.

With this updated route, air travelers can fly from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to Jakarta with daily services available three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights on this route take approximately 3 hours, departing from HCMC at 10:00 AM and arriving in Jakarta at 1:00 PM local time, with the return flight scheduled for 2:00 PM. The Airbus A320 is now utilized for this route.

On the same day, a ceremony took place at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to celebrate the event. The ceremony was attended by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia, Nguyen Xuan Thuy, officials from Indonesia’s Aviation and Customs Departments, representatives from the state-owned airline partners, and further dignitaries.

Ambassador Thuy expressed high regard for the new air route, emphasizing its significance in meeting the growing demand for travel between the two countries. He identified it as a vital link for cultural connection and a catalyst for strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and Indonesia, which contributes to the broader development of Southeast Asia.

With this service, Vietnam Airlines expands its international network to 32 destinations in 2025. As part of the launch, the airline is offering a promotional ticket discount of 25%. Return tickets start at VND3,100,000 and inclusive packages for the HCMC – Jakarta – Bali route are available for VND8,200,000 (prices before taxes).

This promotional pricing is available for tickets purchased from March 1 to April 30, 2025, with travel dates between April 15, 2025, and August 30, 2025.
