“To the place where we want to forget,” the thought-provoking video installation by the emerging artist Truong Que Chi, will take place at the Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi from September 11th to 13th, 2025.
The vibrant exhibition space resembles a confessional, draped in darkness and shrouded by black curtains. Visitors who enter will be transported to an alternate realm, where they can leave behind unpleasant memories and alleviate the burdens of their souls.
The centerpiece of the exhibition consists of videos displayed on multiple screens arranged along the aisle. These videos capture dialogues among diverse individuals—veterans, school children, and artists—each sharing their personal memories they wish to forget. This exhibition space serves as a “Black box” for the soul, a place where the things people want to forget can be openly discussed and ultimately left behind.
While the narratives shared are deeply personal, the connections and emotions felt by visitors transcend individual stories.
