According to a recent survey conducted by The World Economic Forum (WEF), published on ctvnews.ca on April 9, 2025, Switzerland continues to hold the top position on the list of the world's best destinations. This marks the 5th time Switzerland has been awarded this prestigious title.
Among the top ten countries on the list, Canada has garnered significant attention from the WEF. The country is favored by a large number of international tourists due to its diverse natural landscapes and a well-developed transportation system. Based on 14 criteria to assess a country's tourism potential, Canada is currently ranked 7th among 140 countries, advancing one position from the previous year.
This biennial list recognizes Germany as the second most popular destination, followed closely by Austria, Spain, and the United Kingdom. France is ranked 6th, Sweden occupies the 8th position, and Singapore remains the only Asian country represented in the top ten, coming in at 9th.
WEF also notes that tourism rankings are key indicators of a country's economic development pace. In 2023, global traveler numbers rose by 4%, and this trend is expected to continue into 2025, according to WEF forecasts.
