Thua Thien – Hue sets to welcome more tourists
With a series of new cultural activities and tourist products in store, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue has set a target of welcoming between 2 - 2.5 million visitors during the National Tourism Year 2012.
With a variety of new cultural activities and tourist products being developed, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue aims to attract between 3 - 3.5 million visitors during the National Tourism Year 2025.
In August, the province will host the national professional theatre festival, alongside the well-received singing competition Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star - Rendezvous), which continues to gain popularity.
The province is actively seeking partners to increase air services at Phu Bai International Airport and to expand sea routes to Chan May Port. Other priorities include the construction of key tourist sites in major areas, enhancing the brand of Thuan An Beach, and expanding tourism markets in Northeast Asia.
Thua Thien - Hue is committed to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage as a significant tourism asset. Phan Tien Dung, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, noted that out of more than 500 local traditional festivals, over 150 have been revived, attracting tourists from around the globe.
Thua Thien – Hue is located in the North Central Coast of Vietnam and is renowned as an imperial capital from the 19th century, famous for its elegant complex of imperial tombs and temples. In the past year, the province generated nearly 6 trillion VND (approximately USD 255 million) from tourism.
